Comments - Back to Blogger

I had switched to Haloscan, following the wife (and 2/3 of the blogesphere) there, since Blogger hadn't yet added comment notification to their comments section. Of course, not long after that Blogger added comment notification. So, with much help from the wife, I've switched back to blogger. The notifications are way more timely. Care to test it out for me? :)

How smart are you?

This was sent to me in an email..

This is a quiz for people who know everything! I found out in a hurry
that I didn't. These are not trick questions. They are straight
questions with straight answers. I will post the answers in the comments section of this post on Friday. Give it your best shot and leave the answers in the comments section. If you know the answer to only one question, that's cool too!

1. Name the one sport in which neither the spectators nor the
participants know the score or the leader until the contest ends.

2. What famous North American landmark is constantly moving backward?

3. Of all vegetables, only two can live to produce on their own for
several growing seasons. All other vegetables must be replanted every
year. What are the only two perennial vegetables?

4. What fruit has its seeds on the outside?

5.
Why hasn't he been impeached yet?

Know what happens when I bother to read the news? I become outraged! I am beyond disgusted with our countries poor leadership. When a President of a company screws up the finances of the company and or puts the business in jeopardy, he is pretty much forced to resign. Why has that not happened with US President Bush or VP Cheney? Today I was reading that Dennis Kucinich actually called for Cheney's impeachment but it was squashed. Then I read that oil prices are almost $100 a barrel. We already know that the American dollar is losing it"s value - fast, We're losing our long time international allies! Citizens of other countries think we're all a bunch of morons, either that or they feel sorry for us. This pretty much smells to me like the President of this company is running his business into the ground. Shouldn't he be forced to resign?? Come on people!! There was already a poll out there showing that Bush's over all appr...

My quest for a second job..

I've decided to get a second job. Things haven't changed much on the homefront in terms of money. We need more of it. Getting behind when I had my surgery and Tina was unemployed left us stuck in a big hole with almost no way out. It seems like everytime it looks like we are on our way to seeing progress, something major happens that we need to spend money on.

Currently, our strongest car, the Mazda, is overdue for a freakin' oil change. Keep putting it off because if I get the oil changed, we might not have gas money. LOL. It's also driving on rubber bands, the tires are so bald. I desperately need to get two new front tires, and soon.

The Jeep got semi-repaired this weekend. At least now I've learned how to do yet another auto repair on my own. Radiator hose replacement :) The jeep is running strong, just may need a new exhaust at some point.. oh and the cabin heater isn't working. At least we can drive it to the camp ground this weekend.

Kristie's car is running well.. nee...

What's My Name??

Ok.. so last year you named my goldfish (may they RIP), and now I need you to help me choose a name for myself. I have decided to legally change my name to something that suits me better.

Daily at least one person calls me by my government name. This happens in an office where I go solely by JESS. In our company address book, I am listed as Jess, I have introduced myself only as Jess since I started working here. The name plaque on my cube says Jess. I'm listed in the phone directory as Jess. Yet every day someone makes the assumption and calls me Jessica. Or worse than that, Jessie. Jessie is reserved for my closest family. Now some of the people that call me Jessie do so because of their accent or they are older staff members of mine and I don't really mind that. So everyday I have to tell someone to please call me Jess and that I don't go by Jessica. I never liked the name Jessica. I don't even like the name Jess, you know why? Because try telling someone your name over...

No Money Mo' Problems...

I haven't blogged in a while so now you get two at once. The last one was a spur of the moment thought I decided to go with, but this one is more of an update on things and where I'm at.

I've decided to look for a higher paying job. Not that my job pays badly. I mean I am 29ish with no college education. I worked my ass off to get to where I am today, but it seems that life is demanding more money. We are swimming in bills, thankfully we aren't in any danger of losing anything right now, but our goals and dreams call for us to get out of debt. Rather than work two jobs to make slightly more, I thought what the hell, try to find something 9-5 that would give me a significant jump in pay. Between my first and second jobs I got a bump of about 8K. from when I left my last job in 2004 and today I am making 7K more. So, I've decided to try and find something that will raise me another 7K at least. That would be a big enough help to get us back on track.

I posted for some managemen...

Grudges.

I am not typically one to hold grudges. I have to say that I have done a good ol' job of holding a grudge against a friend for the past couple years. There are reasons for it that I won't get into, since I don't want to revisit the past, but I have to say that I have finally come to a point where I have let it go. I will say that I was hurt. I was guilty of doing my own type of hurting and I won't deny it. I was pretty stubborn about the whole thing and really only opened my eyes wide enough to see my side. Recently I have seen this person more and more and it's getting to be comfortable for me again to be around this person. I hope the feeling is mutual and that we can let the past be the past and move on. Whether we like it or not, we have alot in common and when we were friends, we had a good time together

----------

On another note, I heard that my ex got married and moved out of state. WAY better.

This past week, I haven't done so well with the diet and workout schedules and I've been way more anxious and grouchy.

When I do what I should and stick to it, I get up easily in the morning and feel really good throughout the day.

This should be incentive to stick with it... I guess sometimes laziness wins out.

~~~~~~~~~~
The damn cats in our neighborhood keep using our new front garden and their sh!t box. It's pissing me off. I have tagged a couple with water from the hose a few times. We've tried sprinkiling pepper in teh soil to keep them away but that didn't seem to work.
If you have any suggestions that we could try it would help alot!
Please hurry, because I'm getting ready to set racoon traps. LOL (sorry cat lovers) . People need to keep their cats in the house, or don't keep them at all. They are running around (and I'm talking like 1o of them) breedin...
Love is in the air...
Big Squishes to my baby girl! Yesterday was the day that we declared our dating anniversary. We figured that it was right about that time when we knew that our feelings were more serious than we'd realized.
~~~~~~~~~~Yesterday at about 12:30, I got a delivery of 2 dozen of the prettiest red long stem roses in the whole world.
Here are some pics:

This was when they hadn't yet opened up all of the way...

This was them this morning when I got to work :)

~~~~~~~~~~
After I got home from work yesterday, I decided to take Tina out for dinner to celebrate- yep! a date :). We had an entertainment coupon (to order the book for lots of local savings - click the link at the top of my gutter or click here!) and went to Southport Brewing Company for some steak and great conversation. Have I mentioned lately just how much I adore this woman? She is the sweetest, most interesting person I've ever met. What makes talking to her even better ...
MEME Time... Tagged by Rusty
Before I get into this, I want to give a shout out to a new reader, Rusty, who I met at the blogger weenie roast in Bklyn last week.
Rules:
1. We have to post these rules before we give you the facts.
2. Players start with eight random facts/habits about themselves.
3. People who are tagged need to write their own blog about their eight things and post these rules.
4. At the end of your blog, you need to choose eight people to get tagged and list their names.
5. Don't forget to leave them a comment telling them they're tagged, and to read your blog.
>>>>>>>>>>
1. I am the eldest of m father's 6 children. With my mom he had tow girls and a boy, in that order. With his second/current wife he had 2 girls then a boy, in the same order.
I've always felt replaced.
2. I have always wanted to have a child of my own. I mean, give birth.
3. I have a disorder called Trichotillomania - (Obsessive hair pulling) I pull out my eyelashes without realizing it - constantly.
4.
No excuses...
I only went to the gym this week on Tuesday.  I feel guily about it.  It's only week two and I am doing the same thing I always do when I join a gym.  Not going.  :::sigh:::
Sure there have been reasons.  I explained Monday in a previous post.  Tuesday I went and had the free consultation with the trainer.  She kicked my @ss.  My legs still hurt.
Yesterday I woke up with a migraine that didn't leave me until last night.  I still have a headache but not nearly as bad.  I couldn't see with my left eye... my boss actually sent me home from work early due  my eye being swollen and red.  I didn't get to the gym.
Tonight, neither h3ll, nor high water will keep me out of Planet Fitness. LOL.  Seriously... I'm going, I'm gonna get my 30 minutes of cardio in.  I'm going to work out my abs, biceps, and back.  I did glutes, legs and shoulders on Tuesday.  Abs I will be doing daily.. the trained said it's the one muscles group that you can do daily since it's so big and recovers faster than other mus...
Jealousy.
Man am I one jealous SOB. Jealousy is something that I have always had a problem with and in the heat of the moment I can completely justify it as if there is nothing wrong with me. It's like a switch just goes off and I say stuff I don't really mean to say, I do things I don't mean to do.
Total lack of control.
...sigh...
That happened on the phone with my wife this morning. Why, WHY in bloody hell am I still bothered when she says more than a few words to her ex? (rhetorical question.. please don't answer it.) Why am I so insecure sometimes that I let my stupid jealousy control me? (another rhetorical question) Why do I even open my mouth when I'm feeling jealous? (yet, another rhetorical question) Well, this time I sure stuck my foot right in it.
Doh!
STUPID. Why was I bothered that she was talking to her ex about her ex's new love interest? What kind of sense does that even make?
Maybe she'll be talking to me again when I get home from work. As for right now, Papa's in the dog house.
Copi...
